Planning and Research

We support clients in planning and designing all phases of projects, from inception through to implementation, to monitoring & evaluation, learning, adaptation, and to re-planning. We ensure that observations and data continually inform all phases. We recently supported USAID, DOS, and DOD clients with this full-spectrum support.

Data Acquisition and Understanding

We encourage localized - community-driven and led - approaches. We have networks of hundreds of ground staff in over 30 countries, able to access the most restrictive geographical pockets. Data collection and acquisition is subtle, so we ensure that all of our networks are trained in - and apply - conflict sensitivity and Do No Harm techniques. To ensure complete and comprehensive utilization of the data and information, we work with clients from the outset to “render” the data, making sure that they understand fully “how” the data was collected, “what” the data means, and importantly “how” it can be used for programming or re-programming.

Analysis and Interpretation

We develop analytical techniques that best suit the client's needs, and include both conventional analytical techniques, as well as cutting-edge technological options. We partner with several technological data innovators to offer a range of collection and analysis options: SMS and mobile phone enumeration; structured crowd-sourcing in 130 countries using smartphones; LiDAR for site visits and activity verification; geospatial and satellite imagery analysis; blockchain and digital innovation using RFID for supply chain monitoring and analysis; web-scraping and mass social media gathering, culling, and disaggregation; activity-based intelligence (ABI). We work with clients on specific user requirements to ensure that data analysis, reporting, and visualizations reflect fully client needs and utility.
